Coronado Wedding Part 2

What a great experience!! I was able to travel to my favorite place– Coronado Island and put on a workshop for 10 photographers. I fell in love with each of these amazing ladies, all full of passion for weddings. Unlike most workshops we had many location changes, so we had to hit the ground running with little lecture time. I wanted to see each of the girls and Jared getting amazing portfolio work and becoming inspired by the beauty of Coronado. From the fantastic home on the beach, to the Hotel Del Coronado, and of course the Coronado Yacht Club, we had much ground to cover! These girls were inspiring…watching them enthusiastically move from one spot to the next I knew they were -for sure- capturing amazing shots for their growing portfolios!

The models were fantastic! They knew how to work the camera! We were very fortunate to have 2 Bride and Grooms…both equally amazing and very different. It made it hard not to be in two places at once. Which is why I will have to do 2 blog posts!!

Thanks so much to the amazing models! A blessing to our whole group to have you along! Can’t forget the flower girl and ring bearer!!

I did the vendor shout out in the first blog…but I have to say we had many amazing hands helping out! Stacy was my local photographer friend who helped me with the details!! Thanks again Stacy! Couldn’t have done it without you!

Coronado “Over the Top” workshop

What a great day! It started just like a real wedding day — I was up at 6am preparing with the most excellent Amy Bangs of Queen B Vintage Rentals. We wanted the day to be perfect and it was…from the bakery-style dessert station to the amazing head table where the bride and groom would be sitting for our mock wedding! With gorgeous flowers provided by Embellishmint, owner Dawn Stone knocked it out of the park! Every detail was just perfect… like a real wedding day!
The Coronado house was beyond my wildest dreams! Incredible backdrop! Of course, Coronado is such a special place and I felt blessed to share it with the gals attending the workshop! Thanks girls! I enjoyed each and every one of you

“Queen B” A Royal Event in your own backyard!

Melissa and Adam- Mendocino Engagement session

Fun night out with Melissa and Adam. It was cold and windy at the Mendocino Beach… but they never once complained! Adam and Melissa live in Chicago but are holding their amazing wedding close to the beach near Fort Brag. I am beyond thrilled to be able to capture this wedding! The family has already blown my mind with kindness. I truly meet the coolest people because of my job!!

Trash The Dress Session!!!

Nothing excites me more than a great “trash the dress.” Jocelyn was up for all that I asked her to do!! What a fun time Jocelyn got married 10 years ago and still fits in her dress! An amazing way to celebrate 10 years of marriage! Get in your dress and go for it. I will say, when she called I thought, great a ten year old wedding dress…if it looked anything like mine it has a HUGE bow the size of Texas on back. I was very glad to see that wasn’t the case. Fun day and a new friend! 10 years is worth celebrating!!

I always write about your love stories…today seems like a good day to spoil the one I love!!

I am thankful for many things today! But the top of that list is Brad…my amazing husband. If you have been around us you have likely seen how he likes to take care of me. Today is his Birthday and I want nothing more than for him to know how much I love him. I feel most cared about when he takes the time to write me a note, post something sweet on facebook/blog, or when he sends me a text to let me know he is thinking of me. What can I say my love language is words of affirmation…through social media, HAHA!!
I am an expressive person…as many of you know. I will tell you how I feel pretty easily. Brad is the opposite; quiet…he likes to show love through quite actions. He tells me through all the things he does for me. He believes in me like no one else has in my life. I think that is what just gets me so much! I tell him I am going to do something and he says “I believe you will”. He is always my BIGGEST fan! That is a hard quality to find in people. To truly love me with all my flaws and to love me so much that he wants more for me than for himself.
He is the “real thing”…what does that mean? Well, Brad is HIMSELF, not a sugary fluffy person…it is him, what you see is what you get. Funny, sweet, compassionate, loving, humble and devoted. I could come up with a list of adjectives to describe him…but I will keep it simple.
Often times I am reminded of what an amazing husband I have…in the mornings when he takes the kids to school, after school when he comes home and rushes out the door to take the kids on a bike ride or play catch in the back yard. Sundays when he helps get the kids out the door for church just in time to make sure I get my coffee at Starbucks. When he sits in the bayside café just to hear what people will say about my Africa pictures that are hanging up…seriously, I had to make him stop embarrassing me . But he cares so much for me, like nobody else ever has. I have great friends, but Brad has been the most solid friend I have ever had…his love is unconditional. I love that my husband is my best friend, loves me more as life goes on.
Brad, I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I love you…right here. Why my blog? Because it is where I get to express myself and journal about my life. You are the biggest part of my life. You pick me up when I am down; talk sense into me when I am being crazy, you work hard to make sure we are provided for, and so much more! Above all of that, you accept me for all my silliness, and love me very deeply. You are a man of God and you show that through your actions on a daily basis. You seek His will in all situations, even when His will is hard. You are the best dad I know! You love our kids just the way you love me, unconditionally. Thanks for being awesome, keeping us laughing and being you! Now, can you edit this, cause without your help I am sure it is an English teacher’s nightmare. (Brad edits all my blog posts.)

Taylor and Ashley’s engagement session

Don’t my couples have great style!!! What a fun time with Taylor and Ashley! They sure dressed the part! They met in a movie theater so right away I thought of this idea! Ashley loves a little vintage touch as you can see. It is a dream when a photographer gets a couple who goes all out! We had fun driving around shooting in some great locations. Thanks to the two of you for hanging in there through lots of hopping around!

Looking forward to the amazing Old Sugar Mill wedding in August! It will be an amazing day!

Michael and Amber-Engaged!!

Had such a great time hanging out with Amber and Michael! They had so many great ideas for me to shoot! Pinterest, got to love it!
They will be tying the knot in Sept…oh how I love a fall wedding. They are making it even sweeter by having the wedding in Apple Hill!! It is going to full of sweet details and vintage charm! Can’t wait! When I asked what style they are going for Michael said, “Amber likes anything that has been sitting in the attic for years and you pull it out, dust it off and it is cool again.” I love that! I am awaiting some of my clothes to make that kind of go around…hmmmm, maybe one day!
You both were amazing…hung in though driving from location to location and on a tight time crunch to make all the great lighting. Thanks so much for spending the afternoon with me!! Can not wait to see what amazing things you have in store for your wedding!! Enjoy the preview!

Kirk and Chrissy Auburn Wedding

What a fantastic day full of charming details! The sweet little church in downtown Auburn made me very happy! Like a fairytale! Nothing like a downtown wedding with a historic courthouse across the street!! Seriously awesome! Chrissy and Kirk were very relaxed and ready to say “I DO”. You could see the happiness in their eyes, especially when Kirk saw his bride coming down the aisle…a very special moment…I have to be honest–it brought tears to my eyes! The family was so amazing and checked in on me and my team several times, making us feel more like guests. Such an amazing family.
Thanks so much for choosing me to capture your special day! I was blessed to be a part of this incredible LOVE story!
